CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Jan. 21, 2020), The Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club announced Kevin Sawchak as their new Assistant Coach.
Kevin Sawchak has recently been hired to be the assistant coach for the Chattanooga Red Wolves’ first team and will accompany Head Coach Jimmy Obleda into the 2020 season. Sawchak has an extensive background in coaching, and is coming to Chattanooga from Atlanta United’s Academy program.
Coach Kevin Sawchak has coached both internationally and here in the states, specifically the South. Sawchak has been Oglethorpe Men’s Soccer Assistant, Director of coaching Georgia Rush, Sudet RY Finland (Finnish Second Division Professional), and most recently with Atlanta United’s Academy. Additionally, Kevin played Division I soccer at the University of Alabama Birmingham, and seven seasons as a professional. As a professional soccer player, Sawchak played six years in the Finnish league, and closing his time as a player with the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2015.
In a recent interview with Coach Sawchak, we asked in what ways can the city witness your impact on the Red Wolves’ culture? In that discussion, he said, “I really want to make an impact on the team’s identity. Jimmy and I have had some great discussions on the vision of the team. We are on the same page regarding how we want this group of players to represent the city of Chattanooga. Myself, just like all the staff, will play a huge role in constantly projecting that identity onto the players through the training sessions and the expectations we set for ourselves and the players.” Later Sawchak talked about what he was most excited for and this is what he had to say, “For me, it’s the project of getting all the players to buy into the vision of this team. From there we will begin to see that vision come to fruition on the pitch. I am also excited to experience the buzz that is around this team and organization. With the new facility being built and the soccer scene around Chattanooga, it’s going to be a really special season.”
The club is excited for the arrival of Coach Kevin Sawchak, and expect great things from him. The preseason will begin on February 3rd. The team, coaching staff, and front office is eager to begin this next season.
