CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 21th, 2020) – The Chattanooga Red Wolves have picked up Ronaldo Pineda’s option for the 2021 season. Pineda was a rookie that was recruited from the USL League 2 Park City Red Wolves, and exemplifies the path-to-pro model the Chattanooga Red Wolves has to offer young players looking to burst onto the scene. Pineda was an impact player earning eight starts in his debut season in addition to one goal, two assists, and seven key passes. Despite being early in his career, Ronaldo Pineda has a winner’s mindset and will look to capitalize on this year’s success when heading into the 2021 season.
Ronaldo Pineda will be entering his second season with the club and would often be the spark of energy for the 2020 roster when in the midst of a tight game. “Ro’s passion is infectious and it carries throughout the team each and every day. We are glad to have his energy back in CHI Memorial Stadium again”, said Sean McDaniel, President and General Manager of the Chattanooga Red Wolves. Ronaldo possessed a grit that could not be waived by any competition he was up against, and his fearlessness will be an appreciated component when building a team bound for the 2021 championship.
Ronaldo was once a part of the Core 4 that was Coach Jimmy Obleda’s historical team in 2011 and 2012 so not only will Pineda be building on his previously established chemistry with the coaching staff, but also with a familiarity that comes with playing in League One. Coach Obleda said, “Ronaldo is another returning player that knows what is required to play for the Red Wolves. His relentless work on the field is contagious to his team and the people around him. He will be an important piece of our puzzle as we prepare for 2021.”
Ronaldo is a spark to the Chattanooga Red Wolves, and can be dependable when it counts the most. Whether it was his stoppage-time assist to Steven Beattie or his moment in Gillette Stadium, Ro doesn’t back down to competition. For the 2021 roster, Coach Obleda is creating a team that doesn’t settle for complacency and Ronaldo embodies the coach’s hope for each of his players. The upcoming season will be one to witness as Ronaldo and other rookies look to build on a successful debut season.
