CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (December 4th, 2020) This morning Chattanooga announced Jimmie Villalobos as their second new player signing for the 2021 season.
Villalobos is a center midfielder with a knack for finding the back of the net. Villalobos has a strong resume of soccer experience. Most notably, an illustrious collegiate career at Cal Poly Pomona. He netted 51 goals and contributed 17 assists throughout his four years of college soccer. By the time of his graduation, Villalobos had acquired a score of accolades including being named the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year, a D2CCA All-America First Team Member, United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team Member, and much more. Villalobos also led the Broncos to two NCAA Final Four appearances and CCAA Tournament Title.
Jimmie is eager to be a part of what is happening in Chattanooga. “I was drawn to Chattanooga by Coach Obleda’s philosophy in regards to playing style as well as the team culture,” says Villalobos. “Coach spoke to me about creating a winning team in Chattanooga and I can see that he, along with the entire club, have built something primed for success and I want to be a part of it. I cannot wait to start playing and to provide my full potential to make an impact on the team and league. I am very excited to be part of this great organization.”

Villalobos will be greeted by some familiar faces when arriving in Chattanooga for preseason camp having played with Center Back Jason Ramos at Cal Poly Pomona, Ricky Ruiz at the LA Force and new signing Jose Carrera-Garcia at Golden State Force of USL League 2. On top of his previous connections with his future teammates, Head Coach Jimmy Obleda sees Villalobos quickly settling in with the squad and making an impact.
“Jimmie is a player that is calm on the ball and doesn’t panic when under pressure,” says Obleda. “But perhaps most important is that as a midfielder, he gets in the box and scores goals. That is what we will be getting from him in the 2021 season.”
Jimmie Villalobos is the second midfielder newly signed to the Red Wolves for the 2021 season. Villalobos’ high energy and knack for finding the back of the net is sure to add to the already electrifying Chattanooga offense. Adding Villalobos’ passion to attack and create opportunities to score for himself and teammates and his dynamic movement on and off the ball can be a major asset for this upcoming Red Wolves season.
