Thursday, May 5 at 6 p.m: Detroit City FC and team supporters will celebrate the new season at the second annual DCFC Soccer Prom. The event, which will be hosted at The Majestic Theater, will be punctuated by many major club announcements about the 2016 season, including a first look at the home and away uniforms.
Saturday, May 7 at 3 p.m: The final preseason match of the spring will see DCFC host the Muskegon Risers at Hurley Field in Berkley, Michigan.
Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m: Detroit City FC will face the Michigan Bucks in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament at Oakland University.
Friday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m: City will open up its inaugural season at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck against AFC Ann Arbor. The club is currently renovating the 80-year-old stadium, which will have a capacity of more than 6,000. In the offseason, the club and 527 of its supporters pledged more than $740,000 to finance the renovations. It was Michigan’s largest community-based investment campaign to date.
Saturday, May 28 at 3 p.m: One week after its home opener, DCFC welcomes FC United of Manchester for its Keyworth dedication match. FC United is one of the most celebrated supporter-owned clubs in the world. Former Manchester United midfielder Steve Coppell will join the broadcasting team for DCFC’s livestream of the match. Coppell played almost 400 games for Manchester United from 1975 to 1983. Get to know more about the Manchester side here.
On April 28, the team announced it had reached its pre-determined limit of 2,000 for its season ticket distribution. Due to overwhelming interest, DCFC opened up another 200 tickets for supporters who missed out on purchasing their own.
Season tickets can be purchased at DCFC’s newly opened retail space at 2750 Yemans Street in Hamtramck or online at https://sportsengine-staging.go-vip.net/detcityfc.
The 2016 offseason provided several “firsts” for the club, and the 2016 regular season will do the same.
