FC Tucson was the first team on the scoresheet. In the 36th minute, midfielder Devyn Jambga sent a through-ball into the box to forward Guillermo Delgado. Delgado sent a rocket into the back of the net to collect his third goal of the season.
Less than ten minutes later, in the 43rd minute, Jordan Jones doubled the Tucson lead to 2-0. The forward forced the Orlando City goalkeeper to turn the ball over in the box. After Jones dribbled away from the keeper, he was spun into the ground by an incoming defender, but never lost full control of the ball. Jones then got up and poked a shot between the defender and goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
In the 55th minute, FC Tucson almost extended the lead to 3-0 after Jambga sent an accurate cross to Jones inside of the box but Orlando City's Matheus Silva deflected the shot at the last second to deny the goal-scoring opportunity.
Midfielder Erik Virgen finished FC Tucson's scoring in the 69th minute. Following an Orlando City turnover, FC Tucson struck on the counter, leading Jones to sprint into the box with the ball. Without anyone to pass to, Jones held off his defender until he saw Virgen running toward the top of the box. From his spot near the endline, Jones found Virgen and the Tucson-native smashed a shot past the goalkeeper on his first touch.
It was Virgen’s first professional goal of his career.
Orlando City B got a goal back in the 79th minute off the boot of Leonardo Da Silva Simas but that wound up being the final tally of the night.
