TUCSON, Arizona (August 27, 2020) — FC Tucson announced today a partnership with AZ Fit Kitchen, making AZ Fit Kitchen FC Tucson’s official nutrition specialist and meal preparation supplier. The season-long partnership will provide FC Tucson’s professional roster with professional nutrition service from AZ Fit Kitchen’s founder, Robb Walker.
“We are truly excited to partner with such a valued member of the community through AZ Fit Kitchen,” said FC Tucson President, Amanda Powers. “AZ Fit Kitchen is a premium nutrition service that has shown incredible results and commitment to not only our players but also to the Tucson community. I look forward to seeing the positive impact Robb Walker and AZ Fit Kitchen will have on our team.”
AZ Fit Kitchen will provide players with weekly individualized post-training and pre-match meals with the goal of optimal player performance and health. This partnership serves FC Tucson’s goal of ensuring the team’s nutritional needs while abiding by strict medical protocols that require players to dine alone, due to COVID-19 precautions. This marks the club’s first nutrition and meal preparation partnership.
“Working with a great club like FC Tucson excites me because I get to work with such a diverse group of athletes,” said Robb Walker. “As this club grows, I look forward to continuing to meet their demands and that really excites me.”
Since 2014, AZ Fit Kitchen has served the greater Tucson community with fresh pre-packaged meals designed to fit busy lifestyles. Their commercial kitchen offers hand-crafted meals through a weekly menu that clients can select keto, vegetarian, gluten-free, and traditional options available for pickup and delivery. This partnership marks FC Tucson’s first nutrition specialist partnership of its kind, dedicated to serving its USL League One team.
“For athletes, it’s very important to be consistent with nutrition because these guys put their bodies through the most extreme stress during their athletic events. If you don’t refeed your body afterward or if you’re missing meals, your body is going to let you know next Saturday when you’re going through it all again,” said Walker. “This is where it’s important for athletes, especially these FC Tucson guys. They are working hard on getting to that next level and I am there with them.”
