FC Tucson made another addition to its defense with the addition of left back Tarn Weir for the 2022 season.
The club announced the signing of 22-year-old Weir, who previously played with USL Championship side Oakland Roots.
“I’m excited to be playing with a new group of quality players and a great coaching staff,” Weir said. “I see how driven this club is towards reaching success, so I’m very excited for the upcoming season.”
During the 2021-22 seasons with Oakland Roots, he made 13 appearances totaling 383 minutes and scored one goal.
The Oakland native played with a variety of clubs in the area including Montclair Clippers and the East Bay United Oaks. He then went on to play with the academy of MLS side San Jose Earthquakes between 2013 and 2016. He moved abroad in 2017, featuring with Marbella United in Spain, Chorley in England and Panathinaikos in Greece.
“His work habits and his professionalism are top class,” said FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman. “He’s been in a professional environment since he was 17 or 18, and he’s somebody that we thought could bring a lot to the table and be a good contributor for us this season.”
Weir is the 22nd player on FC Tucson’s 2022 roster. He joins six returning starters from the 2021 playoff team, including defenders Kaelon Fox and Luca Mastrantonio.
The signing is pending league and federation approval.
