Reid Sproat, All-League player in 2023, and Northrop standout Namik Mehic back in fold

Reid Sproat – the most decorated player in Fort Wayne FC history – is back. So, too, is up-and-coming star Namik Mehic.
Sproat, a 23-year-old defender, and Mehic, an 18-year-old attacker, were added to the Fort Wayne FC roster Thursday.
All roster additions are pending league and federation approval.
“The opportunity to bring Reid Sproat back this summer is something that excites us all as a coaching staff, and it’s definitely news that the FWFC faithful will love to hear,” head coach Mike Avery said. “Reid is one of the original team members and has demonstrated time and time again that he is one of the top players Fort Wayne has ever produced. Reid exemplifies everything the club stands for, on and off the field, and it will be great to see him out there again this summer.”
Sproat is Fort Wayne FC’s all-time leader in games played (35) and minutes played (2,597), and he captained the club to its first Valley Division championship in 2023. That season, he was named to USL League Two’s Team of the Year and remains the only Fort Wayne FC player to receive the honor. He played for Fort Wayne FC from 2021 to 2023 and again last season in a friendly against Chivas, making him the only player to appear in a match for Fort Wayne FC in all four seasons of its existence.
A graduate of Leo High School, Sproat played collegiately at Oakland University from 2019 to 2022 and was a three-time All-Horizon League selection, helping the Golden Grizzlies to regular-season and tournament championships in the conference during 2021. He played a fifth season of college soccer at San Diego State University in 2023 and was named the 14th best player in the nation by “Top Drawer Soccer,” while also receiving Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in the Pac-12. Last season, Sproat was a graduate assistant at Huntington University.
“Fort Wayne FC has always been a second home for me and it has been a privilege to be a part of and witness all the hard work, commitment and growth that the club has made over the last five years,” Sproat said. “I’m looking forward to getting back out there with all my teammates and helping to represent this city in our pursuit of winning as USL League Two championship.”

Mehic, a Northrop High School senior, has played seven USL games with Fort Wayne FC dating back to 2023, a season in which he scored against King’s Hammer Cincinnati and became the youngest player in club history to find the back of the net – at 16 years, seven months and 15 days.
“I’m very excited to be coming back to play for Fort Wayne FC this season,” Mehic said. “I have recently joined Indy Eleven Pro Academy and MLS Next and also have committed to play for Bowling Green State University, a Division I program, and I can’t wait to be a part of the Fort Wayne FC family again and to win games. See you soon, Fort Wayne fans!”
Last November, Mehic was named Second Team All-State by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association.
“It is easy to see why Namik is considered one of the most exciting young talents to come out of Fort Wayne in recent years,” Avery said. “He has natural gifts and abilities as a player, coupled with a love for the game and a competitive drive, and his performances have continued to improve. It is amazing to consider that he has played with us for two summers already, and Namik still might be the youngest player on the roster this year.
“Over the past year he has stretched himself as a player with his involvement in the Indy Eleven program, and I am eager to see him to take yet another step with FWFC this season.”
Fort Wayne FC, which is the two-time defending Valley Division champion, will ascend to the pro ranks of USL League One after this season and move into a new stadium at Bass Road and I-69. Season tickets are currently on sale and those who buy for 2025 will get priority in 2026. Single-game tickets go on sale March 26.
