As a soccer fan what does it mean to you for Pro Soccer to be coming to Madison?
As a fan of the sport, it's great to see a professional team here in Madison. There is a strong yet underground soccer following in Madison, but I feel this will bring it to the mainstream and everyone's attention.
How do you think this club will impact the community?
That is really up to the club and how they interact with the community and invest in it, and I would hope that the community also sees this as an opportunity to be part of something from the beginning helping create a sense of ownership within the club supporters group.
What kind of effect do you think the club will have on youth organizations around the area?
I'm not sure what kind of effect the club will have on the Youth Organization level. I know Madison 56’s do a really good job of training and mentoring young athletes hopefully this will be continued on a professional level from Madison Pro Soccer. It definitely won't hurt having a professional team in Madison to motivate and highlight the positive aspects of the sport.
Being out in the community how do you feel the reaction to the club has been so far?
I feel the initial response to pro soccer has being positive but I'm also someone helping spread the word so my answer might be a little biased.
Do the Supporters have anything planned for the inaugural season?
As soon as we have a brand to market and promotion we plan to do more group gathering and events.
The supporters group hosted a Charity Footgolf event recently, how did that turn out?
It was fantastic! Very promising and encouraging to see supporters of different EPL teams coming out to support a local charity and the pro team. The final figures are not in yet still, I'm waiting on the venue's percentage but it should be around $1,000 raised for Millennium Soccer Club.
What made you want to join the supporters section?
I want to help create a culture and environment that's fun, friendly, and inclusive, while also supporting our community and giving back. That's what the supporters section is meant to do in my eyes.
Who is your favorite team to root for?
The Arsenal.
What drew you to the sport?
Growing up in Ireland I played it every day at school and afterward with friends. It made those friendships stronger and helped me grow as a person.
What are 3 words to describe how you feel about the upcoming season?
Excited, optimistic, energetic.
Any expectations from the team for next season?
To win and interact with the crowd, it's going to be a very symbiotic relationship.
What’s one thing you’re most excited about for the season?
Meeting new people and watching our team win games.
Hopefully the club wins a lot of games this upcoming season. For more information on the Supporters group you can check out their Facebook page!
