Renovations to Breese Stevens Field are underway, marking the latest step towards Madison Pro Soccer’s inaugural USL League One season in 2019.
Construction crews are currently working on a new concession and restroom building, part of $2.5 million in improvements that the Madison City Council approved when it voted in May to extend Big Top Events’ lease on the stadium. Completion of the facility is expected for spring 2019, around the time when Madison Pro Soccer will kick off – its USL League One season starts during the weekend of March 29-31.
According to Vern Stenman, Madison Pro Soccer managing partner, the stadium renovations will allow the club to thrive in its new home.
"It is invigorating that the launch of Madison Pro Soccer, along with the improvements now underway, will usher in a new era at Breese Stevens Field that will provide the best use of the venerable facility for the entire community for years to come," Stenman said.
Along with the concession and restroom building, Breese Stevens Field will see improvements made to its public address system, locker rooms, facility systems and field amenities, as well as the addition of new seating which will take capacity to 5,000.
