Forward Madison FC’s season will be delayed by at least two weeks following a decision made Thursday by the United Soccer League. Forward Madison, after consultation with Dane County Public Health officials, supports the decision as an important measure to protect public safety.
“It was very clear from our Championship and League One owners that the health and safety of players, fans and staff was their top priority,” said USL CEO Alec Papadakis. “In consultation with local, state and national health authorities, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security, we made the decision to delay the start of the League One season by a minimum of two weeks.”
Fans who have purchased tickets to Forward Madison’s previous home opener on April 11 will have their ticket transferred to the game’s rescheduled date.
Due to the cancellation of the NWSL's preseason, the Chicago Red Stars vs Wisconsin Women's soccer game at Breese Stevens Field will no longer be played. Fans who purchased a ticket to this match will be able to transfer it to any 2020 Forward Madison regular season game, while season ticket holders will have a credit added to their accounts.
Forward Madison will release additional information for its planned U.S. Open Cup game and UW-Madison exhibition at a later date.
