Forward Madison sets out to build a win streak with its upcoming match against Toronto FC II at Breese Stevens Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT
Last Saturday, the Flamingos picked up their first win in five games with a 2-1 defeat over South Georgia Tormenta FC at Breese Stevens Field. Josiah Trimmingham created the lead in the 23rd minute with his first goal of the 2021 season and first goal at the number 9 position. Trimmingham sent the ball to the back of the net after Jake Keegan played it into the box.
Midfielder Justin Sukow earned the game-winning goal with his header in the 63rd minute after receiving the ball from defender Gustavo Fernandes. Sukow and Fernandes’ efforts on Saturday earned them USL League One Players of the Week honors for Week 19.
With this victory, Forward Madison moved up to 9th place in USL League One standings with 22 points.
Turning to the competition, Toronto FC II sits in 6th place with 23 points in USL League One after earning a 2-1 victory against the Richmond Kickers. Forward Garrett McLaughlin is a key player for the team to watch as he leads the team in goals and is the 3rd best scorer in USL League One with 8 goals. Forward Madison leads all-time against Toronto with 2-0-1 record since 2019.
With the current standings, if the Flamingos win, it will place them back into playoff standings with 25 points and a 5th place position.
