Israeli goalkeeper brings wealth European experience to Fuego FC
FRESNO, Calif. – Central Valley Fuego FC announced on Monday it had signed its first international player, goalkeeper Ofek Antman as the club builds its roster ahead of its inaugural 2022 USL League One season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.
Antman most recently competed for Panserraikos F.C. of Super League Greece 2 and captained the Lions for two seasons. A native of Haifa, Israel, Antman previously played for Israeli clubs Ironi Nesher FC, Hapoel Ra’anana AFC and Hapoel Acre FC in Israel’s second division, Liga Leumit. In 78 professional appearances, the 25-year-old goalkeeper has recorded 32 clean sheets.
“First of all, I’m very excited to be here and be a part of the Club. I can’t wait to meet the fans and see them at our matches and make them proud,” said Antman. “I’m looking forward to this season’s success, keeping as many clean sheets as possible, trying to win every match, working hard and leaving it all on the field.”
“Being that he’s an international goalkeeper with experience in the first division in Israel and Greece, I expect him to be a leader since he has that overseas experience,” said Hugo Caballero, Goalkeeper Coach. “I’m super excited to work with someone of that caliber! He has a quiet personality, and he looks like he means business.”
