California United Strikers FC Goalkeeper makes USL League One Debut with Fuego FC
FRESNO, Calif. – Central Valley Fuego FC announced on Saturday it had signed goalkeeper Mitch North as the club builds its roster for its inaugural 2022 USL League One season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.
Originally from Southern Oregon, Mitch previously competed with California United Strikers FC of NISA, recording 15 starts and five clean sheets. Collegiately, North played for Oregon State University before transferring to Sonoma State University. For the Seawolves, North played 4 seasons with 62 appearances and was ranked second all time saves with a career save percentage of 79%.
At the club level, North was a part of the Portland Timbers Academy during 2012-13. During a game with the Timbers, North played against the Seattle Sounders Academy resulting in a 3:2 win. He attended Canby High School and was lettered all four years, earned second team all-state honors and Named first team and second team all-conference.
“I’m extremely excited to be here. I played against Fuego when I was in college and the fans were absolutely buzzing so I can’t wait to play in that atmosphere,” said North. “Everyone has been very welcoming so far. It already feels like a family.”
