This prestigious honor showcases the exceptional talent and dedication of Lynn Williams as she prepares to compete on the global stage against the world’s best.
Lynn Williams, a Bullard High alum, will represent the Central Valley this summer at the 2023 World Cup taking place in Australia and New Zealand. With an impressive track record, Williams has proven herself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of soccer. Her journey began right here in Fresno, where she played for East Fresno Fusion, Central Valley Soccer Alliance (CVSA), and Bullard Valley FC during her early career. Notably, she achieved a remarkable feat by winning a state championship with East Fresno Fusion FC as a U-19 player. Williams’ incredible talent and determination have left an indelible mark on Bullard High, where she holds the record for the most career goals, totaling an impressive 117. She was also recognized as an ESPN RISE All-American third team member during her senior year and has been honored with an induction into Bullard High’s Hall of Fame.
Continuing her soccer journey at Pepperdine University in Southern California, Williams continued to excel and garnered well-deserved accolades. As a finalist for the Hermann Trophy, she solidified her place among the best collegiate players. Williams was named first-team All-American by the NSCAA and Soccer America, as well as All-WCC first-team for three consecutive years. Her exceptional performance earned her 38 points, ranking second in the school’s history. Additionally, Williams set a new school record for shots with 130 and claimed the top spot in the WCC. Throughout her time at Pepperdine, she was also named WCC Player of the Week three times and received recognition as the Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week for her game-winning goals.
Lynn Williams’ journey to the World Cup has been marked by incredible achievements. In October of 2016, she experienced a truly remarkable two-week stretch, during which she secured her first call-up to the National Team. This extraordinary period saw her claim the NWSL scoring title, the NWSL MVP award, an NWSL championship, and make her debut for the USA. A testament to her remarkable skills, Williams wasted no time in leaving her mark on the international stage. In her first cap against Switzerland, she scored a goal just 49 seconds after coming into the game.
Currently, Lynn Williams is making a significant impact in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). As a key player for Gotham FC, Williams has started in all thirteen games and netted seven goals this season.
