This weekend, Ballard FC will be hosting the remaining two teams from the Central Conference alongside the Ventura County Fusion for the second weekend of the USL League Two Playoffs.

Minneapolis City SC, winners of the Heartland Division, will take on the Great Lakes Division winners, the Flint City Bucks, at 2pm on July 25th in the Central Conference Final. Then later that night, Ballard FC will host the Ventura County Fusion at 7:30pm as the two teams face off in the Western Conference Final for the third time in four years. The winners of Friday’s matches will then face off in the National Semifinal on Sunday, July 27th at 5:30pm.
Minneapolis City SC won the Heartland Division with 26 points from 12 matches as they won eight, lost two, and drew twice. The Minnesota side just barely beat out Sueno FC for the division crow, edging them out on goal difference. In the first weekend of playoffs, Minneapolis City knocked out 2024 national finalists, Peoria City, and then their divisional rivals Sueno FC.
Flint City finished the regular season with 27 points from 12 matches as they won the Great Lakes Division with nine wins and three losses. Then, Flint got to host the first weekend of playoffs where they defeated Steel City FC and then Fort Wayne FC to advance to the conference final.
Ballard FC’s opponents, the Ventura County Fusion, were Southwest Division champs, racking up 28 points from 12 matches with nine wins, two losses, and one draw. Like Flint, the Fusion got to host their first two playoff rounds and took full advantage, defeating San Juan SC in round one before eliminating divisional rivals FC Tucson on Sunday.
This is not the third time that Ballard FC has played for the Western Conference Championship, and for the third time in a row it will be against the Fusion. In 2022, the Fusion defeated Ballard FC 1-0 enroute to a national title. Then the roles reversed in 2023 as Ballard FC defeated Ventura 4-3 in extra time enroute to a national title of their own.
