
It was a hard fought match, but the Tampa Bay Rowdies flexed their defensive muscle in a shutout win over Hartford Athletic. Both teams came out firing early in the first half. Giuseppe Gentile led the attack with two excellent header opportunities for Hartford. Rowdies answered with a couple of great chances of their own, but Jacob Lissek continued his phenomenal play in net for Hartford with two fantastic saves.
In the 37th minute, Tampa Bay broke the tie. Leo Fernandez, flying down the left wing, centered to Sebastián Guenzatti, right in front of the net for the easy goal. Rowdies took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half was all Rowdies. David Najem, who subbed into the game in the 57th minute, collected a rebound and fired it to the back post just a minute after entering the game to put the Rowdies up 2-0. Andrew Tinari and Guenzatti would each score in the second half to give the Rowdies a 4-0 victory.
Hartford will return to action next Saturday against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at 7 PM, on ESPN+.
