Welcome back to the mailbag, where we answer your questions! If you want to submit a question to Coach Nielsen, a player, or the front office, click here. Let's get to your questions:
@kjwcpm asks, "What types of behind the scenes work went into securing the friendly with the Puerto Rican National Team?"
Connecting with the community is at the core of our mission at Hartford Athletic. Connecticut has the largest population of Puerto Rican people of any state in the USA. Bringing their National Team to Hartford was a great fit to serve both our fans and our community. At that point, our COO Donovan Powell identified the proper contacts in the world of international soccer to help us coordinate the match. We've worked with a number of important officials at the Federación Puertorriqueña de Fútbol to plan travel and accommodations with the team as well as some fun events, including a meet and greet with players and coaches from both sides on Pratt Street Friday night as well. For more information click here.
@UttaroSports asks, "Any advice or suggestions for out-of-town Athletic supporters?"
We'll start by saying we have the best fans in the world, wherever they are. The best suggestion we can give you is to get ESPN+. You can stream all of our USL Championship matches for the low price of $4.99 a month and it's the best way to stay connected to the club. Continue to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and see if there's anyone else in your neck of the woods who might want to start an out-of-town Supporters Group. You could even start it yourself!
Geoff S. asks, "Where can I watch this weekend's match?"
You have a number of options to watch this weekend's match! First, you can come to the stadium and see it live and in person (get your tickets here). Second, you can watch on local television on WCTX MyTV9. Third, you can stream the match online at WTNH.com! Lots of options to watch the match (the first one is the best in my opinion though…)
Cristobal R asks, "Is a jersey design contest in the foreseeable future?"
While we may not have a jersey design contest any time this season, we may be releasing a jersey you haven't seen sometime soon…
NEXT HOME MATCH:
On Saturday, the Puerto Rico National Team comes to Dillon Stadium for an international friendly match at 5 PM. Tickets start as low as $10 if you use the code 'RICO19' at checkout. Go to https://sportsengine-staging.go-vip.net/hartfordathletic/puertorico for more information!
