ELEVEN REWIND vs PUERTO RICO FC:
Indy Eleven fell 2-1 to the San Francisco Deltas when the sides met on Wednesday night for a midweek match at Kezar Stadium
A wondergoal from Indy midfielder Craig Henderson in the 7th minute saw his side start off on the right foot. However, an equalizer for San Francisco came in the 12th minute via a Colin Falvey own goal after a tussle with defender Kenny Teijsse.
Dueling well into the second half, it appeared neither side would break the deadlock and so they would settle for a point. However, San Francisco attacker Dagoberto produced an impressive, curling effort in the 80th minute that pinged off the far post and bounced into the back of the net to give his side a lead they would not relinquish.
After a long night, Indy Eleven fell to the Deltas and saw their playoff hopes take a big hit.
WIN OUT:
Three home games separate Indy Eleven and the offseason… unless they work for every result and get a little fortune on their side.
“Indiana’s Team” sits sixth in the combined table with 32 points from 29 games played, while both of New York and Jacksonville sit on 37 points from 28 games played. At this stage, Indy will need to win out and see points dropped from both sides above them in order to reach the coveted fourth place spot in the standings.
Indy Eleven Player to Watch: FW Eamon Zayed
Forward Eamon Zayed has been in good form as of late having scored two goals in his last two games at Carroll Stadium in a 2-1 win over Puerto Rico FC and a 2-2 draw with the New York Cosmos.
Coming on as a substitute against the Deltas midweek, Zayed featured for just 29 minutes but did not see a chance come his way with just eight touches. The Irishman is looking to propel his team's final push for the 2017 Playoffs as the only player in the NASL to have reached the 10+ goal mark in two consecutive seasons.
Miami FC Player to Watch: MF Poku
Miami FC midfielder Poku has performed well against Indy Eleven in three meetings already this season. With one goal and one assist against Indy in 2017, the 6'1 Ghanaian playmaker has helped orchestrate many a move from his position in the center of the park and remains one of the visitors' biggest threats.
In his last time against the "Boys in Blue," Poku did not manage a goal or an assist but completed over 85% of his passes (34 attempts) and made one key pass in the build-up to a goal. The Indy Eleven midfield will need to help hold down the attacking threat throughout the entirety of the Saturday afternoon match.
Match-up to Mark: MF Gerardo Torrado vs MF Dylan Mares
Indy midfielder Gerardo Torrado heads into the final three matches of his career while Miami FC midfielder Dylan Mares returns to the building he once called home for just the second time since making the switch to the South Beach Side in the offseason.
Mares, who did not score in his first trip back to Carroll Stadium, last contributed on the scoresheet when his side knocked off Indy Eleven, 3-1, during Indy goalkeeper Jon Busch's 500th appearance of his career across all competitions. Still very much a regular fixture in head coach Alessandro Nesta's first team, Mares will meet Torrado in the middle of the park tomorrow, who should be fresh having only played 10 minutes in Indy Eleven's 2-1 loss at San Francisco.
