Joe Gyau’s 90th minute equalizer from outside the box has been nominated for USL Championship Goal of the Week

The USL Championship today announced that Las Vegas Lights FC defender Joe Gyau’s 90th minute equalizer from last Saturday’s match vs. New Mexico United has been nominated for USL Championship Goal of the Week for Matchday 2. Voting is live now and will remain open through 9:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, March 20 at USLChampionship.com.
Gyau’s goal, his second with the club since joining in February 2024, came in the dying moments of the game. The Lights went all in looking for an equalizer, which they finally scored in the last minute of regulation time. Rory O’Driscoll found an unmarked Joe Gyau at the back post, who cut in and shot a beautiful curling effort from outside the area that soared above New Mexico goalkeeper Alexandros Tambakis into the top corner.
Head to USLChampionship.com to vote for Joe Gyau for Goal of the Week now!
Las Vegas Lights will continue their season on Saturday, March 29 when they face Oakland Roots in the team’s first away match of the season.
