Louisville City FC will host the Charleston Battery for the first time in the 2018 season at Slugger Field Friday night. LouCity and Charleston met once earlier this season in Charleston, S.C. LouCity come in off the back of a 1-4 loss at home to Toronto FC II on Tuesday, but prior to that, had been on a seven-game unbeaten streak.
Last time against Charleston
LouCity met Charleston on the road earlier this season, in a contest that ended 2-1 in the Battery’s favor. An early goal from Ataulla Guerra put the Battery ahead in the fifth minute, and a header off a corner kick by Neveal Hackshaw increased Charleston’s lead to two before the end of the first half.
A header from Paolo DelPiccolo deflected off a Battery defender and into the net to put LouCity on the board in the 88thminute, but the “Boys in Purple” were unable to complete a comeback.
Scouting Charleston
Charleston sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference coming into Friday’s match with an overall record of 11-4-11. The Battery come to Louisville with almost a week of rest on their side, having played their last match Saturday, August 25 against the New York Red Bulls II.
Tah Anunga was issued a red card during Saturday’s match, which results in the minutes played leader for the Battery being out against City. Atualla Guerra scored half of the goals for the Battery on Saturday, bringing his season goal total to a team-leading 14.

This will be Louisville’s third match in seven days to end a seven-match month of August.
