Louisville City FC announces initial roster moves for 2019 season
Core of 14 players from 2018 USL Cup campaign to return under head coach John Hackworth and staff
Louisville City Football Club can today announce its initial roster moves ahead of the 2019 USL Season beginning in March. All signings are pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, terms of individual contracts will not be released.
After becoming the first back-to-back USL champions in history, LouCity welcomes back nine members from the 2017 and 2018 triumphs and 14 total members from the 2018 USL Cup-winning side. Club captain Paolo DelPiccolo returns, as do the other members of the former player-coach “Triumvirate” in midfielder George Davis IV and forward Luke Spencer. In addition, after setting the LouCity single-season record for clean sheets, goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh will also return as a member of Los Morados.

Goalkeepers Greg Ranjitsingh, Chris Hubbard; Defenders Oscar Jimenez, Alexis Souahy, Sean Totsch, Shaun Francis, Pat McMahon; Midfielders Paolo DelPiccolo, Jose Carranza, Magnus Rasmussen, Richard Ballard, Brian Ownby, George Davis IV; Forward Luke Spencer.
After securing a high number of returning players, head coach John Hackworth described the impact that will have on his team’s success heading into 2019:
“I cannot overstate the importance of being able to bring back a significant part of our core group from last season. Character in the locker room is one of the few things you cannot measure but will absolutely be the primary driver of our success in the 2019 season. We have so many talented individuals and each member of this returning group will serve an important role as we look to accomplish our goal of repeating as USL champions again next year.”

Continuity is a pride point for City with this season marking the fourth-straight in which at least ten members return from the year previous and the second-straight season in which City returns at least 14 members from the year previous.
Louisville City FC’s 2019 preseason is set to begin in early February with a trip to renowned training facility IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
