A week after subbing off early in Louisville City FC’s loss at Sacramento Republic FC, Josh Wynder is fit and ready to play.
The 17-year-old defender experienced only an injury scare, per coach Danny Cruz, and joins a familiar back four Saturday as LouCity kicks off at 3 p.m. against Detroit City FC at Lynn Family Stadium.
Rookie goalkeeper Oliver Semmle keeps his place between the posts after registering a clean sheet in City’s midweek U.S. Open Cup victory over Lexington SC. Amadou Dia, Sean Totsch and Manny Perez make up the defensive line along with Wynder, the star U.S. youth international.
One change from Wednesday’s win in the midfield sees Rasmus Thellufsen return beside Tyler Gibson and Paolo DelPiccolo. The front three consists of Jorge Gonzalez, Brian Ownby and Wilson Harris, who’s making his first USL Championship start of the season.
Injury counted out Wes Charpie, Cameron Lancaster and Niall McCabe prior to Saturday. Ray Serrano, who started against Lexington SC, will also miss after picking up a midweek knock.
