Looking for some finishing touch after seeing a lead evaporate in Louisville City FC’s midweek loss, coach Danny Cruz has inserted Ray Serrano at forward for Saturday’s 7 p.m. kickoff at Indy Eleven.
Serrano figures to take the left flank, pushing midfielder Jorge Gonzalez into a more central role at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
LouCity’s lineup is otherwise unchanged from that Wednesday defeat to FC Tulsa after the boys in purple generated the chances to win but managed to hit the back of the net only once.
Wilson Harris (striker) and Brian Ownby (right wing) make up LouCity’s front three alongside Serrano. Rasmus Thellufsen — who continues to impress in his first season in purple — lines up in the attacking midfield with Gonzalez.
Midfielder Tyler Gibson retains the No. 6 role in front of a standard back four, from left: Amadou Dia, Sean Totsch, Wes Charpie and Manny Perez. Oliver Semmle continues to start at goalkeeper.
LouCity, which saw a five-game USL Championship unbeaten streak snapped in the Tulsa loss, sputtered as its substitutes came on. Cruz will have a number of different options off his bench Saturday with recently signed Dutch striker Maarten Pouwels back among available bench players.
LouCity-Indy Eleven will air locally on WBKI/The CW and ESPN Louisville’s 680/105.7. USL Championship games also stream via ESPN+.
