With Louisville City FC’s front line thinned by injuries, rookie midfielder Evan Davila has the call Friday in the club’s return home against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
Davila will make his first start in the 8 p.m. game at Lynn Family Stadium, where he’ll add to his four professional appearances. They include a substitute’s role back in March’s home opener that saw the 22-year-old register his first goal contribution on an assist.
The Cal Berkeley product appears to have a spot in LouCity’s attacking trio beside forwards Ray Serrano and Wilson Harris.
Davila’s older brother, Taylor, is poised to line up in the midfield with Elijah Wynder while Jake Morris (left) and Aiden McFadden (right) man the wings in a 3-5-2 shape.
Wes Charpie, Sean Totsch and Amadou Dia make up coach Danny Cruz’s defensive line in front of goalkeeper Damian Las.
This group shows two changes — Evan Davila and Dia in, Sam Gleadle and Arturo Ordóñez out — from LouCity’s most-recent game back on July 6 at Oakland Roots SC. The boys in purple took a season-low nine shots that night and lost their third game from the last five.
Still, City enters Friday night atop the USL Championship standings and will play at home, where the club has been defeated just once this season.
Coverage will air locally on MyTV 58 and ESPN Louisville’s AM 680/FM 105.7 with national streaming available via CBS Sports’ Golazo Network.
