Louisville City FC will make just one change to its lineup for Saturday’s game at North Carolina FC despite entering off a chaotic last-out defeat.
Sean Totsch — who missed that loss to Hartford Athletic while away for an excused personal absence — returns to the starting 11 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in Cary, North Carolina.
That, however, doesn’t quite tell the full story of LouCity’s availability. The squad will be without coach Danny Cruz and forward Adrien Perez, who were both shown red cards against Hartford. And along with City’s longer-term injuries, defender Wes Charpie will miss out with what’s expected to be a short-term ailment.
Assistant coach Simon Bird has been elevated to acting head coach for a weekend as the boys in purple look to bounce back and maintain first place atop the USL Championship.
Totsch will anchor a back line also featuring Kyle Adams and Arturo Ordóñez, while his return also allows Aiden McFadden to shift back wide after playing in central defense last week. Amadou Dia will take up the left wingback role opposite McFadden.
Elijah Wynder and Taylor Davila – who scored his fifth goal of the season at Hartford – make up the midfield behind a front three of Wilson Harris, Ray Serrano and Jansen Wilson. The latter will return to an attacking role after appearing as a wingback at Hartford.
The Austin FC loanee Damian Las also holds his regular spot in goal.
Defender Manny Perez is eligible to make his 2024 LouCity debut off the bench, returning this week on a new multi-year contract following a brief stint in Europe.
LouCity at North Carolina is set to air locally on WBKI/The CW and ESPN Louisville’s AM 680/FM 105.7. ESPN+ will carry national streaming coverage.
