In celebration of Women’s History Month, Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC are highlighting Gretchen Hunt, director of Louisville Metro’s Office for Women, which looks to raise the status of women and gender-diverse individuals by advancing gender equity through policy, programs and education.
“When we invest in women and strengthen networks of women,” Hunt said, “the entire community benefits. I have seen that happen in our Office for Women ambassador leadership and civic engagement program, where over 70 women and gender diverse individuals have strengthened their leadership and involvement in city activities.”
Hunt, who has become a soccer fan by watching Racing Louisville play, believes in the importance of having top-tier professional sports in our city.
“It has been so fun to be a part of this energy in our city with Racing,” Hunt said. “I love attending games. I love the way that Racing gives back in the community. It is an honor to help Mayor Craig Greenberg on his mission to make Louisville the women’s sports capital of the world!”
For Hunt, Women’s History Month is about honoring the past and looking to the future.
“Celebrating Women’s History Month,” she said, “is important to see where we have been and where we are going, to honor trailblazers and to recommit to unlocking the potential of all in the days, months and years to come.”
