Forward Shinya Kadono:
On first Loudoun United goal:
It’s definitely great scoring my first Loudoun goal, but also my first professional goal! I’ve scored in the preseason for both DC United and Loudoun, but this one was obviously more special!
On overall team performance:
I thought the team’s effort overall was fantastic. We never turned off our switch the whole 90 minutes. The pitch was very tough to play on with the amount of rain we got today, but the boys kept grinding to maintain our lead.
Each game I feel our team’s chemistry is getting better and better, and the way we approach these away games have been improving a lot. Now we focus on how we approach the next game at home and hopefully get our first home win!
Forward Connor Presley:
On first Loudoun United goal:
I was really happy to get the goal to tie it up and start the comeback win.
On overall team performance:
I think we fought hard and we are getting better every week. Now it’s time to bring that energy home for next Sunday.
On team attitude:
Every week we have gotten to know each other on and off the field a lot better. We have been working hard to improve every day in practice and in the games.
Midfielder Noah Pilato:
On first professional goal:
It feels amazing to score my first professional goal. It was a big goal for the team, to set the tone early in second half and reward us for our great response from going down early. We were then obviously able to keep the pressure on and add a 3rd, ultimately coming out with a huge 3 road points
On overall team performance:
I thought the overall team performance was extremely positive. Similar to the Red Bull game, we went down early, but we showed grit and determination to keep ourselves in the game. Connor scored an amazing goal, which gave us hope and momentum going into halftime. We came out buzzing in the second half and had them on their heels directly after the kick off. We got the early goal and then did not stop there. Shinya added a 3rd and after that we showed great composure to see the game out and come away with the 3 points.
There are so many positive qualities demonstrated within this group. I think it all comes down to professionalism. We’re a younger team, sort of thrown together last minute, and we’ve shown that we can play with any team in this league. We have veteran leaders on the team who have kept everyone focused and young guys who are hungry and appreciative of the opportunity in front of them. Our coaches have given us an identity and have stuck by it from the first day of preseason, and that makes it much easier on the players. To have playing style in and out of possession that we all know and work on every day in training has helped our group mesh together so quickly. It’s a special group and I’m happy to be a part of it.
