Taste of Trelawny is a relatively new business which was started in April of 2018. After serving nearly 30 years in the Air Force and eight assignments, company owner Rupert G. Richards Jr. found it difficult to find himself a good, authentic Jamaican restaurant. Mr. Richards Jr’s belated wife, Sandra Richards, really enjoyed cooking for the single Airmen in his office. She realized how much people enjoyed her food so she began catering for small events. In her honor, Mr. Richards Jr. wanted to make her dream come true by bringing the Taste of Trelawny to everyone.
Taste of Trelawny has exceeded customers expectations by bringing the people a meal that will remind them of their grandmother’s kitchen back home in Jamaica. They continue to offer the best tasting, and authentic cuisine to the people of the District of Columbia and they plan on opening more locations in the surrounding areas. Mr. Richards Jr’s. favorite soccer team is the Philadelphia Union because he is from the city originally, but he also closely follows his grandson’s local youth team in Fredericksburg.
