Loudoun United FC (4-8-4, 16 points) vs. Louisville City FC (8-6-6, 30 points)
Kickoff: Sunday July 28th, 2019 7:30 pm ET
Audi Field, Washington, D.C.
After a long road trip against challenging competition, Loudoun United will get a chance to play some cleaner soccer in a rematch against Louisville City FC at home. When these two teams faced off back in June, Loudoun took a 2-1 loss but competed well against the defending champions on the road. This will be Loudoun’s last game at Audi Field before moving in to the brand new Segra Field in Leesburg on August 9th. They’ll look to bid farewell with a much needed three points.
Louisville City sits in 7thplace in the eastern conference entering Sunday. And despite coming off a scoreless loss to Bethlehem Steel, they have proven to be one of the most aggressive offenses in the USL Championship with 352 total shots (second in the league). Loudoun will look to limit this, as they were out-shot 28 to 12 in their first matchup.
Players to watch:
Loudoun United: Despite a bit of a drought in offense last week, Loudoun still has plenty of talent and playmaking ability in their offensive attack. Team captain Kyle Murphy is always a playmaker when on the ball, as he leads the team with four goals and three assists. And although he’s been relatively quiet lately, midfielder Connor Presley has proven to be able to strike from long range and have reliable touch in the attacking third.
Louisville City: Louisville’s offense is led by two USL veterans, Magnus Rasmussen (seven goals) and Luke Spencer (five goals). Rasmussen epitomizes their aggressive nature with 42 shots on the year. In goal, Benjamin Lundt has been very reliable with four clean sheets on the year. Overall, Louisville’s team defense has been solid as they’ve conceded just 24 goals.
