
Loudoun United are set to play their sixth match of the 2021 United Soccer League (USL) Championship regular season against Hartford Athletic at Dillon Stadium on Saturday, June 19. Kickoff time is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The Red-and-White will look to bounce back from three close, one-goal losses in a row and earn three points against a tough Hartford Athletic squad on Saturday night.
In their last match, Loudoun lost 2-1 to the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Loudoun United scored a goal in the opening moments of the match but were unable to recover from a late match winner by the Rowdies. The early goal was scored by Robby Dambrot in the 4thminute when he finished at the back post after a perfect cross was played in by Darluis Paz on the right wing. The goal was the first of Dambrot’s professional career. Tampa bay tied the match in the 34thminute when Sebastian Guenzatti finished an opportunity from in-close. The two sides went into halftime tied 1-1.
Loudoun United started off the second half strong as well and nearly found another goal on two different occasions. In the 47thminute, Jovanny Bolivar got in behind the defense but had has shot narrowly saved by the Tampa Bay goalkeeper. Shortly after, Bolivar slipped in a pass to Samson Sergi, who came on as a substitute at halftime, but his chipped effort floated just over the crossbar. In the 63rdminute, Keegan Meyer made his best save of the night, lunging to his right to save a headed effort and keep the scored tied at 1-1. Tampa Bay broke the tie in the 85thminute when Foster Langsdorf poked home the match winner from right in front of the goal after a re-direction from a corner kick.
This will be the first of four times that Loudoun United and Hartford Athletic play each other during the 2021 USL Championship regular season. Both teams are members of the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division.
