
Loudoun United are set to host the Indy Eleven for their 18thmatch of the 2021 United Soccer League (USL) Championship Regular Season. Loudoun United will look to earn three points and get back on track at home when they take on the Indy Eleven on Wednesday night.
In their last match, Loudoun United lost 1-0 to the Charleston Battery on Friday, August 13. Loudoun United created chances throughout the match but were unable to convert as they fell to the Battery in a hard-fought match on the road. In the seventh minute, Jermaine Fordah stopped a well-hit shot by a Charleston attacker form in-close. Shortly after, Kairou Amoutapha made his way down the right wing but had his shot narrowly saved by the goalkeeper. Loudoun were awarded a penalty kick in the 38thminute, but Robert Dambrot had his shot from the penalty spot saved by the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper. The two teams combined for 17 shots in the first half but neither team was able to find the goal and the match went into the break tied 0-0.
Charleston scored in the 79thminute when Robbie Crawford snuck his shot just inside the left post to give the Battery the lead. Loudoun United fought to find the equalizing goal for the remainder of the match and, despite keeping 60% of the possession in the match, were unable to breakthrough. The Charleston Battery won 1-0.
The match will be the third meeting all-time between the two teams. Loudoun United have an 0-2-0 record against the Indy Eleven and will look to win their first match against them on Wednesday night. The Indy Eleven play in the Eastern Conference Central Division and the two teams will only play once this season.
