Overall thoughts on team performance:
“We didn’t stick to our principles, that was one of the things Coach harped on this week a lot. Finding ourselves and our system out there. One of the guys said it in our team talk right now, it didn’t look like we were ourselves, not one time out there today and that was our demise, the key to our demise. The two goals they got were unlucky. Just moving the lines up from the back to the front we got to just shift together as a unit, shift as a team and we didn’t really do that today. It wasn’t our best game overall.”
On looking ahead to Oakland:
“We are just going to focus on this week. We have to take it game by game, every week by week, and every team by team. The focus of this week will do our film and study them and see how they are. Come up with a game plan for later this week. It’s a long season and we just have to go game by game. Next focus is next weekend.”
Head Coach Ryan Martin
Overall thoughts on team performance:
“Overall, I was a little bit disappointed because I think we lost a little bit of who we are as a team, as a collective group. I think we tried to solve the problem as individuals, so I was a little disappointed with that. We did a very good job of putting ourselves into very bad situations, which a veteran team and good team like Louisville will punch you on. So, it’s a great learning lesson so early in the season. There’s a sense of disappointment from the group but also a sense of eagerness to learn from it, grow, and move on.”
On looking ahead to Oakland:
“Oakland is a team we have never faced. Oakland, tough situation and will be a tough trip. They are playing mid-week so hopefully that gives us an advantage. We got to fly cross country, which is obviously difficult. They are a team that likes the ball and can make things difficult for us. It’s just another really good challenge of okay, what type of character and what type of people do we have in these uniforms here. I think we got a tremendous set of young men, and we will bounce back positively.”
