Leesburg, VA. (February 3, 2022) – Loudoun United FC announced today the acquisition of goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux.
“We are excited to welcome Hugo [Fauroux] to Loudoun United,” Ryan Martin, Loudoun United FC Head Coach, said. “He had a very good season in the USL Championship last season and is a great shot stopper. He has a very good range of passing and will be vital for starting the counterattack for us this season. He’s a fantastic leader and will be a great fit to join Loudoun this season!”
A native of Cannes, France, the 26-year-old spent the 2022 season with USL Championship side, Charleston Battery. Fauroux recorded 83 saves in 22 matches with the Black-and-Yellow.
The goalkeeper previously played with Austin Bold FC, making five appearances in the USL Championship with the club. Before joining Austin, Fauroux made his professional debut with Norwegian side Valdres FK in 2019, featuring in eight games.
Fauroux’s playing career started at the youth level with his hometown club, AS Cannes (U17), before moving to the academy of French giants AS Monaco (U19).
The six-foot-one-inch shot stopper made the move Stateside to play at Lake Erie College in 2015, where he was named GLIAX Goalkeeper of the Year after a strong 2016 campaign. Fauroux then transferred to Florida International University in 2017 and garnered all-conference honors in his first season.
