The wait is finally over!
On Saturday, March 11th the Red-and-White return to USL Championship play to start the 2023 season. Loudoun United will travel to take on Memphis 901 FC. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. ET.
The new season welcomes a new squad that look to bring home 3 points from Eastern Conference rivals, Memphis. Those that are unable to make the trip can watch the match on ESPN+.
With a 5 p.m. ET kickoff, Loudoun United is one of four teams looking to get the first crack at becoming the first goal scorer of the new season.
Last year, Loudoun United’s Kimarni Smith claimed the first goal of the season in the Red-and-White’s 1-0 victory against Indy Eleven at Segra Field.

Loudoun United enter the 2023 season with 16 new players. For a quick rundown of the roster, click here. Returning Red-and-White players include Abdoul Zanne, Dane Jacomen, Isaac Espinal and Houssou Landry.
Forward Zach Ryan and defender Cole Turner have been announced co-captains ahead of the 2023 season.
Loudoun is set to debut their new away kits on the road against Memphis. Be on the lookout for Loudoun’s newest partner, Betfred. Betfred will be the back-of-jersey sponsor for the Red-and-White home and away kits.
Under new ownership, Loudoun United have created plenty of storylines in the off-season. Attain Sports and Entertainment reached an agreement with D.C. United Ownership Group to control ownership stake in Loudoun United FC. Attain is led by CEO and Managing Partner Greg Baroni, who will serve as Principal Owner of LUFC and represent the club on the USL Board of Governors.

About Memphis 901 FC
Memphis 901 FC excelled in the 2022 USL season, going undefeated with a 6-0-2 record against the Western Conference on its way to the best regular season in club history.
Carson Vom Steeg will be one of the familiar faces that Loudoun United will line up against on Saturday. Memphis 901 FC signed Vom Steeg in the off-season following the conclusion of the 2022 USL Championship season.
In addition, Memphis announced former Atlanta United and Aberdeen FC manager Stephen Glass as the club’s new Head Coach on Nov. 22, 2022. Glass previously coached four players on the current roster.
One of the players to keep an eye on is Phillip Goodrum. Goodrum set the single-season club record for goals scored with 22. Goodrum earned All-League First Team honors after finishing second in the race for the Golden Boot.
On Feb. 1, 2023, Memphis 901 FC announced that the club signed forward Bruno Lapa. The veteran attacker spent the past three seasons with Birmingham Legion FC, notching 19 goals and 11 assists over 70 total appearances with two of those goals coming in the playoffs.

Loudoun United FC is 1-2-1 overall against Memphis 901 FC. The Red-and-White last faced off with the Tennessee side on August 31, 2022 at AutoZone Park. United’s Jacob Greene scored the game winner in the 56th minute.
