Loudoun United FC currently sit in the last playoff spot of the Eastern Conference standings with 19 points following a late-night win over Hartford Athletic on Monday, July 3.
After waiting through a nearly three-hour lightning delay before the start of the second half, Loudoun United defeated Hartford 2-1, thanks to goals from Jackson Hopkins and Tommy Williamson.
Hartford was first out of the gates in the match, taking the early lead in the eighth minute. The Red-and-White responded in the 20th minute, equalizing on a brilliant team goal finished off by Jackson Hopkins.
Hartford had multiple scoring threats that were batted away by Dane Jacomen, who picked up Man of the Match at the conclusion of the game.
Before the start of the second half, the game was paused due to lightning in the area. The delay lasted two hours and 46 minutes, and the second half began at 11:04 PM eastern time.
Loudoun were in control for the majority of the second half, recording eight touches in Hartford’s box and putting three shots on target through the first 30 minutes. In the 83rd minute, Tommy Williamson scored the game winner thanks to a stray ball that was turned over in Hartford’s half.
Back from injury, defender Yanis Leerman led the backline while defender Cole Turner came off the bench for his first match since March 25.

Louisville City come into Saturday’s match following a scoreless draw with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on the road. City (7-4-5, 26 points) sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference Standings. Danny Cruz’s side have only won one match in their last five outings.
Wilson Harris leads the team with four goals in 13 appearances while Oliver Semmle has been a stalwart in net, keeping eight clean sheets in 13 appearances.
In their last outing, the game was as tight as most expected. The biggest talking-point of the match was a shot that looked to have crossed the line but deemed a goal-line clearance.
