Loudoun United FC enter Wednesday’s match following a tight 0-1 loss at Louisville City FC. United entered the weekend on the playoff cut line but slipped to ninth in the East with the loss.
After waiting through an hour lightning delay, the match kicked off at Lynn Family Stadium at 9 pm EST.
Loudoun found their best chance in the eighth minute with Jackson Hopkins’ shot forcing a save from LouCity’s goalkeeper.
Goalkeeper Dane Jacomen started in net for the Red-and-White, saving five shots including a goal-line scramble in the 34th minute of the match.
Major highlights of the match include defender Cole Turner starting in the backline for the first time since March 25.

Detroit City FC enters Wednesday’s match with vengeance, winning only one match in their last 5 outings including a 0-1 loss to New Mexico United this past weekend.

“When looking back at the Louisville match, the overall performance had a lot of good takeaways but when you don’t get a result obviously there are things to improve…we can’t concede off set pieces on the road and expect to walk away with points. We need to be more clinical and decisive going forward. We face a very talented Detroit team with a few familiar faces. They have a very dangerous system of play and have some very good players but once again, our focus comes back to the guys in white and red. We look to get better from Louisville and try to bring home three points in one of the toughest paces to play in the USL.”
