The Red-and-White come off a heartbreaking 2-1 loss at San Diego Loyal SC. United took the lead over the home side with Kalil ElMedkhar’s 56th minute goal.
Despite leading the match late into the second half, San Diego scored two goals in four minutes to claim the victory. Goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux had a season-high performance, saving eight shots.
Loudoun continue to push for playoff contention, trailing six points from the playoff line.
Forward Zach Ryan leads the team with nine goals in 22 appearances. ElMedkhar continues to lead the team with four assists and 30 chances created.
On Wednesday, August 9, Loudoun United FC announced the signing of Nelson Martinez. Martinez returns to the Red-and-White following a two-year stint with North Carolina FC. The El Salvadoran made his season debut on Wednesday against San Diego Loyal, playing 27 minutes.
