Leesburg, VA. (December 7, 2023) – Loudoun United FC (LUFC) announced the re-signing of goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux, extending his contract through 2024, pending league and federation approval.
“We are very excited to welcome Hugo [Fauroux] back to Loudoun,” said Head Coach Ryan Martin. “At the end of last season, we saw his best performances and we’re excited to build on that momentum as we head into the 2024 season. His ability with the ball at his feet and helping us build out of the back will be key.”
After a solid 2023 season, Fauroux is making a return to the Red-and-White. The French goalkeeper started in 18 matches, securing three clean sheets and making a significant impact with 47 saves. He fills a crucial role in Loudoun’s successful possession-based style of play.
Originally signing with Loudoun United on February 3, 2023, the six-foot-one-inch goalkeeper made his professional debut with Norwegian side Valdres FK in 2019, featuring in eight games.
A native of Cannes, France, the 27-year-old spent the 2022 season with USL Championship side, Charleston Battery, where he made 83 saves in 22 matches with the Black-and-Yellow.
Fauroux previously played with Austin Bold FC, making five appearances in the USL Championship with the club.
His journey in soccer began at the youth level with his hometown club, AS Cannes (U17), before progressing to the academy of French giants AS Monaco (U19).
Before embarking on his professional career, the shot stopper made the move Stateside to play at Lake Erie College in 2015. His standout performance in 2016 earned him the title of GLIAX Goalkeeper of the Year. Fauroux later transferred to Florida International University in 2017, where he received all- conference honors in his first season.
