Leesburg, VA. (January 10, 2024) – Loudoun United FC today announced that the club has signed defender Keegan Tingey to a one-year contract with an option for the 2025 season, pending league and federation approval.
“Keegan [Tingey] is a versatile defender who we think can be an elite rightback in the USL Championship,” said Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He is extremely composed on the ball and has a great work ethic. We see him as a key piece to our 2024 season.”
The defender signed with the San Jose Earthquakes in January 2023. Tingey recorded two goals and three assists in 27 MLS Next Pro matches for Earthquakes II.
Prior to his professional career, Tingey was a four-year starter for Stanford (2019-2022) and tallied three goals and 16 assists in 66 total appearances (61 starts). He was named Second Team All-Pac-12 as a senior in 2022 after recording seven assists, sixth most in the Pac-12 and second most among defenders. He previously earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 honors in both 2020 and 2021 and was a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient in 2019 and 2020.
Tingey led Stanford to a Pac-12 Championship in 2020 and helped the Cardinal finish third place nationally in 2019. Tingey joins former Stanford stars Zach Ryan and Drew Skundrich on the Red-and-White roster.
