Loudoun United FC (LUFC) will play on the road at Richmond Kickers in the Third Round of the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match will take place on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. ET.
This will be Loudoun United’s first-ever U.S. Open Cup match against Richmond. The Kickers begin their 2024 USL League One season this Saturday. In the Open Cup, they defeated Christos FC 1-0 in the First Round and Maryland Bobcats 5-2 in the Second Round.
Last year, Loudoun United FC competed in the U.S. Open Cup for the first time. The Red-and-White defeated North Carolina FC 2-1 in the Second Round and Flower City Union 5-0 in the Third Round before falling to the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer in the Round of 32.

Now in its 109th edition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer’s Club Championship – has crowned a champion since 1914 in every year except 2020 and 2021. The history-filled tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
