Leesburg, VA. (December 5th, 2024) – Loudoun United FC today announced that the club has extended 2022 MLS SuperDraft pick Jacob Erlandson to a two-year contract through the 2026 season with an option for the 2027 season, pending league and federation approval.
The Ohio native was drafted 40th overall pick by Columbus Crew in the Second Round of the MLS SuperDraft. The defender spent the last season competing with Loudoun United FC in the USL Championship and returns to the club after starting in 34 matches across all competitions.
“Jacob emerged as one of the leaders both on the pitch and in the locker room in 2024. He has been a fantastic addition to the club. Having him commit to a multi-year contract secures a great footballer and a great human being to stay with Loudoun and we are very excited to see him improve further in the coming years.” – Director of Soccer, Olly Gage
“We couldn’t be happier to have Jacob back. He is a tremendous vocal leader and a proven winner. He had a great first year in the league with us and I think in year two he will only get better. He is a massive part of Loudoun United.” – Head Coach, Ryan Martin
“I’m looking forward to building a winning culture as long as I’m here with Loudoun United FC. This team can win a championship if we are willing to work for it.” – Jacob Erlandson
