Match Preview | Louisville City FC vs. Loudoun United Football Club
The Red-and-White finish their opening stretch road trip in Louisville, KY to face Louisville City FC at Lynn Family Stadium this Saturday, March 22nd at 4:00 pm.
The Matchup
Loudoun United Football Club (2-0-0) take on Louisville City FC (1-0-1) for the third and last match of their three-match road stint to kick off the 2025 USL Championship season. Loudoun United look to maintain momentum after starting off the season with two USL Championship league wins and one U.S. Open Cup win, all on the road. Last weekend, the Red-and-White secured a league victory in Cary, NC against North Carolina FC with goals from Abdellatif Aboukoura and Riley Bidois. Then, this Tuesday, Loudoun booked their ticket to the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup following a brace from Bidois and a goal from Christian Sorto in the club’s 3-2 win over West Chester United SC.
Louisville has had a strong start to their 2025 campaign as well, posting a 2-1 win over Charleston Battery and then drawing Birmingham Legion 1-1, a club that Loudoun beat comfortably in their season opener two weekends ago. Last season, Louisville finished with the best record in the USL Championship, securing the Players Shield with an overall record of 24-6-4 and a home record of 16-1-0. Loudoun lost both matches to Louisville in 2024 and has yet to beat Louisville City in USL Championship play. Both teams are looking to maintain their strong spots and good standings in this Eastern Conference matchup.

“It’s all about staying true to who we are. It’s being on the front foot, pressing, re-pressing if the lose the ball, being brave as we build out of the back, and sticking to our core principles as a group.”
Abdellatif Aboukoura on keeping up momentum and staying consistent:
“We just need to stay focused and take things one match at a time. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, so it’s important to enjoy what we are doing and go week to week.”
