
Miami, Fla. (December 16, 2022) – The Miami Football Club announces the multi-year contract extension of center-back Benjamin Ofeimu. The 22-year-old returns for his second season in the 305.
Ofeimu is joined by a core of returning players under contract ahead of the 2023 season, including forwards Christian Sorto, Claudio Repetto, Joaquín Rivas, Kyle Murphy, midfielders Bolu Akinyode, Dennis Dowouna, Florian Valot, defenders Aedan Stanley, Callum Chapman-Page, Mark Segbers, Paco Craig, and goalkeepers Jake McGuire and Noah Abrams.
Ofeimu made 17 appearances in USL Championship play during the 2022 season. He helped MFC secure eight clean sheets over the course of the 17 games, starting 15.
Ben Ofeimu at Birmingham Legion (2021)
Originally from West Bloomfield, Mich., Ofeimu spent his last seasons with Birmingham Legion FC. The 6-foot-3-inch defender made 15 appearances, started 11 games, and played a total of 924 minutes, helping the Legion to five clean sheets in the process. Ofeimu traveled to Miami on June 2021 to face Miami FC but remained as an unused substitute during the 1-0 away loss.
Ben Ofeimu at Philadelphia Union 2 (2019-2020)
Prior to joining Birmingham, Ofeimu spent the 2020 season with the Philadelphia Union II. He appeared in nine matches, started eight games and played 720 minutes.
Ofeimu signed his first professional contract with the Philadelphia Union II, known as Bethlehem Steel FC at the time, in January 2019. Despite only being a teenager, he played 27 matches, scored two goals and dished out two assists.
