Reflecting on Monterey Bay Football Club’s Second Annual Pride Night at Cardinale Stadium
Monterey Bay Football Club celebrated its second annual Pride Night at Cardinale Stadium on Saturday, June 24 against Eastern Conference opponent Miami FC. With a pride flag flying high above the stadium, representatives from local pride organizations Monterey Peninsula Pride and Salinas Valley Pride were in attendance at the match and honored at halftime.
A co-founder of Salinas Valley Pride and local deejay, DJ LuNa.M, kicked things off right as gates opened with a two-hour performance in the Alvarado Street Brewery Beer Garden that set the tone for the night. Pride bracelets were given out to fans throughout the match, and the MBFC Team Shop unveiled new pride-themed merchandise, including several t-shirt options, a hoodie, sweatpants and a scarf.
The match was presented by the U.S. Women’s Open and the USGA, the premier championship in women’s golf. When gates opened two hours prior to kick off, the presenting sponsors hosted giveaways inside the Union Plaza and prominently displayed the tournament’s trophy – The Harton S. Semple Trophy – for fan viewing. Alvarado Street Brewery also joined in on the fun, hosting a Happy Hour special before the match kicked off.
