MONTEREY BAY RE-SIGNS FORWARD JESÚS CHUY ENRÍQUEZ
SEASIDE, California (Thursday, January 18, 2024) – Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) announced today that the club has re-signed Jesús Chuy Enríquez ahead of the 2024 USL Championship campaign, pending league and federation approval. The 26-year-old forward – who initially joined the Union in mid-March last year – officially remains with Monterey Bay and gives the Club an experienced and creative option in the attack for 2024.
“I’m really excited to be back for 2024 and I’m so grateful for another opportunity to represent this club,” said Enríquez. “The way MBFC and the fans treated my wife and daughter throughout the season was something I had never experienced before in USL and that is really important to me. We came up a bit short last season, so we have some unfinished business to handle. We’ll take it game by game and strive for more than just making the playoffs.”
From Redwood City, California, Enríquez joined the Club Tijuana youth academy in 2016. Two years later, he signed his first professional contract with Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC and recorded 10 goals and nine assists in 61 appearances over two seasons with the Toros. Following brief stints with San Antonio FC and Reno 1868, Chuy joined Oakland Roots SC in 2021 and stayed for two seasons before joining Monterey Bay last year. While with the Crisp and Kelp in 2023, Enríquez played 564 minutes across 14 appearances (six starts) in all competitions during an ultimately injury-riddled campaign.
“We’re happy to have Chuy back with us this season,” said Monterey Bay F.C. Sporting Director and Head Coach Frank Yallop. “We felt last year – he came in a bit late to begin with – was a frustrating one for him with the injuries. He didn’t get a chance to show what he can do, so he has some unfinished business with us this year. Chuy has an attacking flair that can really help us, and he has good character in the locker room as well. We’re excited to have him back and look forward to him showing what he can do on the field.”

MBFC ACUERDA NUEVO CONTRACTO CON JESÚS CHUY ENRíQUEZ
SEASIDE, California (miércoles, 18 de enero de 2024) – Monterey Bay F.C. anunció hoy que ha llegado a un nuevo acuerdo con Jesús Chuy Enríquez, para la temporada del 2024 de la liga USL, pendiente de la aprobación de la liga y la federación. El delantero de 26 años, quien se unió con MBFC el marzo pasado, se quedará oficialmente con el equipo para esta próxima temporada and la que le dará al Club a un jugador con experiencia para atacar en el 2024.
“Estoy muy emocionado de regresar esta próxima temporada y muy agradecido por tener otra oportunidad de representar a este club,” dijo Enríquez. “La forma en que MBFC y los fanáticos trataron a mi esposa y a mi hija durante toda la temporada fue algo que nunca había experimentado en esta liga y eso es realmente muy importante para mí. Nos quedamos un poco cortos la temporada pasada, por lo que tenemos algunos asuntos pendientes que resolver. Trabajaremos partido a partido y nos esforzaremos por algo más en llegar a las finales.”
Desde Redwood City, California, Enríquez se unió a la academia juvenil del Club Tijuana en el 2016. Dos años después, firmó su primer contrato profesional con el equipo del campeonato Rio Grande Valley FC en donde registró 10 goles y nueve pases para gol en 61 partidos durante dos temporadas con los Toros. Luego de breves temporadas con San Antonio FC y Reno 1868, Chuy se unió a Oakland Roots SC durante dos temporadas en 2021 y 2022 antes de unirse con MBFC. Mientras estuvo con este club de Monterey en el 2023, Enríquez jugó 564 minutos en 14 partidos (seis como titular) en todas las competiciones durante una campaña que finalmente estuvo plagada de lesiones.
“Estamos contentos de tener a Chuy de regreso con nosotros esta temporada,” dijo el director técnico de MBFC, Frank Yallop, “Sentimos que el año pasado fue algo frustrante para él por las lesiones. No tuvo la oportunidad de demostrar lo que puede hacer, por lo que tiene algunos asuntos pendientes con nosotros este año. Chuy tiene un talento ofensivo que nos puede ayudar mucho y también tiene buen carácter fuero del campo. Estamos emocionados de tenerlo de regreso y esperamos que demuestre lo que puede hacer en el campo en esta temporada.”
