During any New Mexico United game, you’re bound to hear the chant, “We are United!” echoing around the field, but what does it really mean to be United?
For our fans, it means that all are welcome and each supporters' diversity is celebrated. As LGBTQ+ Pride Month approaches, here are 5 reasons to attend the Pride on the Pitch match on June 5th.
1. Learn about organizations making a difference in our community
We are proud to partner with several community organizations playing an integral role during this game.
- Albuquerque Pride has evolved from 25 members in 1976 to now over 30,000+ attendees during its annual Pride Week each June. Pride on the Pitch will be an official Pride Week event this year, kicking off all of the festivities.
- The Albuquerque LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce serves to promote, advance and connect LGBTQ-owned businesses through shared knowledge and support, not only in Albuquerque but throughout the state.
- The largest philanthropic organization in New Mexico dedicated to solely serving the LGBTQ community, The Envision Fund, provides financial support to nonprofits that address the most critical needs facing the community.
2. Free Rainbow New Mexico United Flags
The first 5,000 fans who enter the park will receive a limited-edition rainbow United flag. Wave your flag high and proud at this match and all season long.
3. A performance by the New Mexico QTones
One of the country’s first choruses of its kind, the New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus is lending the musical talents of their outreach ensemble, The QTones, for the National Anthem performance.
