RAILHAWKS HOST MEDIA, BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT AND SOCCER LEADERS FOR TEAM PRESS CONFERENCE INTRODUCING NEW OWNERS AND NEW PRESIDENT
Cary, NC (February 16, 2011) – The Carolina RailHawks held a press conference today introducing Traffic Sports USA and Singh Holdings, LLC as the new ownership group of the Carolina RailHawks FC and Curt Johnson as the team’s new president. The press conference took place at the Town of Cary’s Herbert C. Young Community Center where members of the local media and local area business leaders and dignitaries were in attendance. The press conference reflected on professional soccer in the Triangle over the past two decades and the vision and leadership that will be brought to the Carolina RailHawks, to establish this team as a model franchise moving forward in the newly sanctioned North American Soccer League.
“One day people will do research on the history of professional soccer in America and Carolina will be an important part of it,” stated Aaron Davidson, NASL CEO. “ The NASL, Traffic, and the local ownership will be very powerful and when you add PMI led by veteran Mark Washo, the Town of Cary and WakeMed Soccer Park (one of the best facilities in the country), the strong youth soccer community, the media, and outstanding sponsorship support, this is a winner. We really do believe the Carolina RailHawks can be a model second division team.”
Head Coach Martin Rennie spoke of continuing the team’s success on the field and announced the resigning of fan favorites Brad Rusin, Kupono Low, and Matt Watson. More player signings will be announced in the coming weeks.
The RailHawks also announced their “Season Ticket and Supporters Cocktail Party” that will take place tonight, February 16th, from 5:30pm to 9:00pm at the BrickHouse Sports Pub. Attendees will receive two free drink vouchers courtesy of the RailHawks and other great food and drink specials will be available all night long including the BrickHouse burger for only $2.99. No RSVP is required and the event is open to all fans of the RailHawks. BrickHouse Sports Pub is located at 3801 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, directly across from Meredith College.
New team President Curt Johnson and Head Coach Martin Rennie will be holding a special Q&A forum for all soccer fans at 6:30pm, where they will discuss the recent exciting developments around the team. Fans in attendance will also be entered into a drawing for a 2011 Carolina RailHawks home jersey that will take place at the end of the Q&A forum. Following the open Q&A forum, RailHawks officials will meet with the Triangle Soccer Fanatics and JailHawks supporters groups. RailHawks players and staff will be on hand for a meet and greet before and after the Q&A forum.
“It is an honor to lead the RailHawks into the 2011 NASL season, said RailHawks President Curt Johnson. I am thrilled to be back in the Triangle area and in an area that has such a passion for soccer. We will be successful on and off the field and I want to encourage everyone who is passionate about the beautiful game to throw their support behind the 2011 RailHawks. In turn, I can assure you the RailHawks organization will be involved and a positive force in the soccer community and business community as a whole.”
