The Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signing of former Carolina RailHawks striker Etienne Barbara. The reigning NASL Golden Boot and MVP will join former RailHawks Coach Martin Rennie and assistant coach Paul Ritchie in Vancouver. He will also start the MLS season with former RailHawks teammates Matt Watson, Marques Davidson, and Brad Knighton.
"The announcement of Etienne is another clear demonstration of the importance of the NASL in North American soccer. The league is becoming a major talent development for the MLS," said RailHawks President Curt Johnson. "We wish Etienne and the Whitecaps FC a great season. We are extremely happy to see another RailHawk player move into the MLS."
The MLS' Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be coming to the Triangle this weekend. They will face the RailHawks on Sunday March 4 at 3:00 PM in the 4th Annual Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint Community Shield Match.
