Oakland Soul got on the board first when Sam Tran scored in the 18th minute, giving Oakland a 1-0 lead. Oakland battled in control for the first half but entered the halftime break with the lone goal.
In the second half, Soul came out on the front foot, but the Marin keeper was up to the task, making multiple big saves. It took until the 71st minute for Soul to score their second goal when Sam Tran found Miranda Nild for a tap-in on the back post, making the score 2-0. Marin quickly responded with a wonder goal to narrow the score to 2-1.
The battle continued but Soul held on for the 2-1 win. Oakland Soul next return home to face the division leading SF Glens at Merritt College on July 2nd at 2:00 PM PT for the final regular season game of the 2023 season.
